Biography

Dr Meyer is a pulmonary physician in Sacramento who has spent thirty years managing pulmonary patients in a variety of settings—many in the ICU in respiratory failure and many on ventilator life support. He has assisted thousands of patients and their families in their end-of-life decisions.

He was at the forefront of the movement towards single subspecialty medical groups and developed the largest pulmonary group in the United States during the 1970s. He has experienced the various types of medical practices from solo, partnership, corporate and government (including county, military, VA and prison hospitals).

Dr Meyer was editor of Sacramento Medicine for four years, writing monthly editorials, the "Hippocrates and His Kin" column, and monthly reviews of books on medical issues or books by physicians on any topic. He continues to sit on their editorial board writing a "Voices of Medicine" column. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons (JAPS). He is editor and founder of the MedicalTuesday newsletter (www.MedicalTuesday.net), an 8,000-word practice-related journal that brings the message of private personal health care to 19,000 physicians and 3,000 health care professionals on a semimonthly basis.
